At Smincoat, we’re setting a new benchmark in yacht care, driven by an experience that made it clear just how urgent the need for reliable yachts solutions was. In 2022, during a visit to the HISWA boat show, I toured a luxury 70-feet yacht with a Yachtcare manager from a respected luxury yacht dealer. The yacht, despite being nearly new, already showed signs of fading and dullness across its surfaces—particularly in its gelcoat. Seeing such a high-end vessel lose its radiance so quickly left me both shocked and intrigued.
As I asked the Yachtcare manager about possible remedies, he explained the options available, including ceramic coatings and abrasive polishing techniques, yet admitted that none were delivering long-term results. These methods, widely used across the industry, often promised more than they could deliver, with yachts requiring frequent re-treatment and owners still seeing signs of wear far too soon.
Realizing that luxury yacht owners were investing in solutions that ultimately fell short of preserving their vessels’ technical and aesthetic value, I knew there had to be a better way.
